Nigeria Segure-Watson

Throughout her journey, Nigeria has worked to make an impact within underserved, minority communities for she wants to continue to demonstrate the possibilities youth can have if granted the same opportunities she was given throughout her adolescence years.

Nigeria Segure-Watson is a Brooklyn, New York native who began her career in youth advocacy and education reform at the age of fourteen years old.

Since, she has worked with public sector initiatives that include The Future Project, GripTape Learning, Black Girls Film Camp, Living Classrooms Foundation, The Be. Org, Baltimore City’s Mayor’s Office of Employment Development – YouthWorks, Baltimore’s Promise. Her efforts have been notarized by the multi-international fashion company, Coach Inc., serving as a panelist for their Dream It Real Foundation launch and participated in the 2018 Facebook Youth Activation Summit. Nigeria had been keynote speaker at the Donnell-Kay Foundation Hot Lunch and featured in articles including In Purposeful, BIF Speak, and PioneerLab. She has also recently completed her participation in Women Empowering Nations - Girls Leading The World (GLOW) Global Cohort Fellowship sponsored by Cantu Beauty. In all of her roles, she brought new perspectives, creativity, and leadership to the forefront.

Today, she has the honor of serving as the Founder of The Girls Innovation Club, a creative exploration program teaching BIPOC girls about design thinking and project management to curate social solutions to solve community concerns that they are passionate about. Her idea to start TGIC came at a time where she yearned to find teen girls who were just like her — creative, brillant, and ambitious enough to give new things a try!

Nigeria resides in Baltimore, MD, and enjoys spending her time being a mom, family chef, and reading the latest novels.

Nigeria, at the age of 17, captured during a youth-led design weekend for GripTape Learning on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.

Nigeria, at the age of 16, completing her photoshoot as a youth challenger for the first-ever GripTape Learning Challenge cycle. Her project was to study creative direction and fashion. Project was completely lead by her! Brooklyn, NY

Nigeria, at the age of 18, as an intern at The Future Project serving as keynote speaker of Coach’s Dream It Real Foundation launch in Manhattan, NY.
